Was visiting Vale, Colorado with my husband and kids and one of the things I wanted to do on this trip was try Fly Fishing. Little did I know that this day would be one that we would never forget. Robert Gibbes and Nick Mahaffey were two of the most knowledgeable and patient guys I had ever met. Our family had never fly fished before. These guys showed up at our hotel with so much enthusiasm it was absolutely contagious. Everything from getting the one day fishing license, to putting on the gear, was seamless. We were taken to a stream where there was no one for miles. The scenery was beautiful. Robert and Nick took their time showing us the ropes and never once did we feel like they were annoyed or bored. Not only did they teach us the proper technique for the type of conditions we were in ( a little windy) - they also explained why they use certain flys and what the fish are really thinking.
Out of everything we did in Vale and Denver, this trip was by far our favorite. Cannot imagine spening the day with anyone other than Robert and Nick. You will thank me! Enjoy!

Our guides, Nick and Robert, were great teachers, incredibly knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft. They were very patient with our group of 5 - several of whom had never fly fished before.
They stayed out with us much later than we expected, going the extra mile to land everyone in the group at least one fish for the day. We all had success fishing, learned a lot about the sport, and had an awesome time. It was a truly memorable experience, and Nick and Robert had a huge hand in making it so. Would go back to Minturn anglers, and Nick and Robert specifically, in a heartbeat.

We started out the week thinking about fishing as one of our activities for our vacation. We are an avid fishing family, and I have been a fly fishermen for over 30 years. Our local guides in Maryland had no clue who to contact in the Vail area, so we took suggestions from our concierge and Yelp. These guys are every bit as good as reported. I fish all over the world, with some of the worlds best guides, and this is one of the classiest outfits I've ever seen.
We fished with Robert Gibbes and Andy ( who said this was his first summer in Colorado as a guide, but you would never know it). They were both very patient, professional, and knowledgable. In very difficult conditions, they put us on fish. We caught our first Colorado cutthroat and had a very good time. They were entertaining, thoughtful, and fun. I would recommend these guys without reservation. We will definitely be back, maybe later this week.
They even told us where to fish the rest of the week near our resort! There must be so much water out here that they don't feel threatened telling anglers about their favorite river sections.
I forgot to mention the very courteous staff at the shop and the nice inventory. I'm going to order one of those Titan rod vaults for my SUV as soon as I get home. Thanks Minturn Anglers.

Thank you so much for all of your work and education on Sunday! You were hands down the best match for guiding me thru my first fly fishing adventure and it was so memorable! Please tell Brian what an amazing job he did on class! The information provided was so exciting and exactly what we needed/wanted to be learning. I have my whole family eager to come up and visit y'all. More texans, I know you're thrilled ;). Also, I am getting my son signed up for your youth class in July, and I can't wait to build that bond with him! Again though thank you! Id love to do the mousing with y'all if you ever go out and want extra company, and I'll definitely be putting a float trip on the books as well. Best wishes, and we will be seeing y'all soon!

I am home in my chair so I can email you now. We just flew home today it took all day to drive to Denver and fly to Detroit. We had a great time in Vail and your fishing trip was part of that.
